Emma Betuel covers Bushwick for The Brooklyn Ink. She has written for WBUR, (Boston’s NPR Station), The Borgen Project Magazine, and The Sag Harbor Express. A Long Island native, Emma graduated from Brown University with dual degrees in History and Human Biology.

Howie Borden, a Social Media Editor for The Brooklyn Ink, covers Crown Heights. He grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. At John Jay, he studied abroad in eight African countries and researched gender disparity in education.

Christian Colón covers Bedford-Stuyvesant for The Brooklyn Ink. He was born in Connecticut, but his family is from Puerto Rico. He recently graduated from Sacred Heart University with degrees in Journalism and Criminal Justice. He has worked for ABC News, Univision, and Connecticut’s WTNH-Channel 8 News. He enjoys learning about the Latino culture, especially music.

Raishad Hardnett, a Social Media Editor for The Brooklyn Ink, covers Bushwick. He grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from the University of Southern California, he worked as a local TV news reporter in Spokane, Washington and Knoxville, Tennessee.

Luis Hernández covers Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Red Hook, Gowanus, and Park Slope for the Brooklyn Ink. He majored in international relations in Mexico City, his hometown. Before coming to Columbia Journalism School, he worked as research assistant in a university and as a political analyst for Mexico’s Secretary of Public Education.

Yuntong (Yasmin) Man is the Photo Editor for The Brooklyn Ink and covers Sunset Park. She grew up in Beijing and earned her B.A. in Media Art Production with a focus in film and video production from Emerson College in Boston. She studies instructional technology and media at Columbia, and will intern for United Nation Television starting in January.

She graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a degree in Psychology. Prior to pursuing a master’s degree in strategic communication at Columbia University, she worked in the nonprofit sector.
