The Television studio once used by high school students for decades to make their own news and entertainment programs is being dismantled and hauled off for scrap, reports the New York Times.

Edward R. Murrow High School in Midwood, Brooklyn can no longer afford to keep the studio open, and so a ton and a half of old television monitors, cameras, lights, and all manner of recording equipment are to be taken away.

The program closed after personal tensions and budget issues outpaced the school’s ability to keep up with current technology and students’ interest in making television.

The closing is good news for at least one person, however. Frankie Fidilio, who discovered the treasure-trove of scrap, has been given permission to clean out the studio. Fidilio is a professional scrapper and star of the reality show “Scrappers”.
