Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, a local Bushwick hospital, might be causing respiratory problems to residents, The Brooklyn Daily Eagle says.
The generators were put in place last April, when the hospital’s air conditioning system failed. They were on the sidewalk, both in the front part of the building and in the parking lot.
Black film has been forming on the rear wall of the hospital.
Michael Kelly, a local resident, complained that he had trouble breathing during the summer, even though he claims to be “a pretty active person.”
The generators burn approximately 65 gallons of diesel an hour.
Hospital staff said that the generators would be removed by September, when the new air conditioning system would be up and running. As of October 20, they are still in place.
