It really just started as a call for companionship on the roads, but it’s grown into a movement that’s hundreds of runners strong.
Aja Marsh started North Brooklyn Runners (NBR) in 2009 as a way to exercise and, in some cases, train for competitive races. But group members say that what sets NBR apart from other running groups is its focus on running for running’s sake. The races, and the racers in the group, are just a bonus.
North Brooklyn Runners hosts 14 runs six days a week. The group doesn’t charge dues for membership and donations go toward fees associated with races.
