A 2 year-old Brooklyn girl will be the youngest in the nation t0morrow to undergo a procedure to prevent sterility during difficult treatments for an immune disease. Violet Lee will have one of her two ovaries removed and frozen for up to 20 years while she receives chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant which would otherwise likely leave her unable to conceive naturally, according to the New York Post. The youngest child to previously receive this surgery was 3 years-old and medical professionals still consider it experimental because of the length of time the organ is frozen.
