Former New York Giants baseball player, Bobby Thomson, who hit “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World,” died on Monday at his home in Savannah, GA.
Thomson is best remembered for hitting a three-run home run, in the bottom of the ninth inning, off Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher, Ralph Branca. Thomson’s heroics helped the Giants beat the Dodgers and win the 1951 National League pennant.
