The New York Daily News reports that 12-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder while walking home around midnight Sunday morning from a party.
Police do not know who shot the boy or why he was shot, according to the Daily News. According to the report, he was walking near the corner of Lafayette and Marcy Aves when he “heard a gunshot and realized he had been wounded.” He walked two blocks to the corner of Dekalb and Nostrand Aves where he flagged down police.
The Wall Street Journal reports that a law-enforcement official close to the case believes the boy was not not an intended target of the gunfire.
He was transported to Kings County Hospital and is in stable condition.
