A museum at the Brooklyn Navy Yard will be opening Veterans Day, this Friday, according to the New York Daily News. This marks the first time since 1801 that the Navy Yard will be open to the public.
Chunks of steel from the Arizona, which was built at the Navy Yard and later destroyed at Pearl Harbor, now take residence in the new museum. There are also collections of personal stories from servicemen and women.
The museum will be open Wednesdays through Sundays. It is free to the public.
