A Brooklyn judge has reversed an earlier ruling and deemed Brooklyn Assemblyman William Boyland Jr. eligible for a court-appointed lawyer for his ongoing bribery case. Judge Sandra Townes had originally ruled that Boyland was not deserving of legal counsel paid for by taxpayer dollars, but has changed her mind based on the assemblyman’s current financial state. Boyland was arrested in 2011 on charges of soliciting more than $250,000 in bribes.
