Last month’s NYC foreclosures were up 35% on January 2009, with Brooklyn residents hit particularly badly. “Brooklyn homeowners incurred the most foreclosure notices in the city in January, 693, up 86.8% compared with January 2009 but down 8.5% from the previous month,” says the Daily News

A man in his 20s was shot several times just before midnight last night at 71 E. 95th Street in the 67th precinct, police said. The victim, who has still not been identified, died as he was being transported to Kings County Hospital. Police told The Brooklyn Ink today that the investigation is ongoing and they couldn’t provide more information. We’ll keep you updated as we find out more.
From our reporter Todd Stone: Limited-Stop buses are now making all local stops due to the winter weather, says Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesperson, Aaron Donovan. The subways are running smoothly. He advised to check the MTA website throughout the day for updates.

NY1 reports that Mohammed Wali Zazi was arraigned and is no longer free on bail. He pleaded not guilty to charges that he tried to dispose chemicals and other evidence, prosecutors said. Authorities believe that his son, Najibullah Zazi, was planning a terrorist attack with a self-made bomb on New York City.
The National Weather Association predicts two inches of snow for tonight and 7-11 inches of snow in Brooklyn tomorrow. Over the course of the day we’ll be updating how the city will cope with the blizzard like conditions.
