Wholesome Spice, a Brooklyn-based company, is recalling 25 lb. boxes of wholesale crushed red pepper sold between 4/6/09 and 1/20/10 after some of their samples were found through testing to contain traces of salmonella. According to the FDA website, the spice is not sold on a retail market and it is unknown if the contamination has caused any outbreaks of the disease at this time.
