Three plainclothes officers assigned to Anti-Crime patrol at 33rd Street and 5th Avenue shot a male who fit the description of a robbery suspect. At 2:15 pm today the suspect approached the driver’s side of the police vehicle and displayed a handgun. As the driver attempted to grab the gun, the officer in the passenger seat exited and and fired a shot at the suspect. The third officer also came to their aid. The injured suspect was taken to Lutheran Hospital and was pronounced DOA. A loaded .357 caliber silver handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
