Red Hook Concrete Plant Opens Despite Resistance

A concrete plant has begun production in Red Hook despite resistance from neighbors and residents in the area, the New York Post reports. The two-million-dollar plant, located on Columbia Street next door to Ikea, did not need special permits to open in the industrial area. But it sits across the street from the Red Hook ballyards frequented by Little Leagues and recreational players. Neighbors say they will be keeping an eye on the plant.
