Narcotic officers from the New York Police Department (NYPD) raided several stores along a ten-block radius on Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn yesterday afternoon, arresting employees for allegedly selling cocaine and marijuana while on the job,  reports WABC-TV

Police officials focused on Nostrand Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights after being alerted by concerned residents that their neighborhood bodegas, take-out businesses and music stores were selling more than just food and CDs.

In total, eight people were arrested at about six stores and officials say in most cases, the business owners were unaware of what was happening on the premises, according to WABC-TV.

“You could go in and get the drugs in the food or perhaps go in the back of the store and pick it up,” said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. Kelly added that about 400 drug sales occurred in a week at these stores.
