Imam Ahmad Afzali, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI and NYPD about his connection with the ringleader of the group plotting to bomb NYC subway, was ordered to leave the country today as part of his sentence. Afzali will not serve any additional jail time. He has 90 days to get his affairs in order before deportation. He denied any connection to the bombing plot. He and his family had fled Afghanistan after the Soviet invasion. His family will remain in the United States.
