African American church leaders and politicians condemn the actions of police Friday evening after officers chased a car thief into the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1256 Dean St. during a sabbath service. Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries has charged the police with acting disrespectfully to a house of worship, claiming that more decorum would have been maintained in a white neighborhood. Kendall Jones, the suspect (and church member) was apprehended after a chase by car and foot and is charged with 11 crimes, including grand larceny and reckless driving.
