Brooklyn Artist Gives Ordinary New Yorkers Extraordinary Keys

Love exploring? Then you’ll really appreciate Paul Ramírez Jonas’ art project. He’s giving out 25,000 master keys at a Times Square kiosk and the first one went to Mayor Bloomberg on Thursday. The mayor usually gives out similar keys to people who have done something great, like the Dali Lama. But, Bloomberg loves the idea that regular New Yorkers will be able to explore the city in a new way. “If you asked me a thousand times to come up with art projects, in a million years I never would have thought of this,” Bloomberg told The Daily News. “Which shows that it really is creative. That’s why he’s an artist – this guy really thinks outside the box. And it’s these kinds of things around the world that give New York its reputation as the place to come.”
