Attorney General Says Brooklyn Companies Took Advantage of Haitians

Home Live Wire Attorney General Says Brooklyn Companies Took Advantage of Haitians

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has come down hard on three Brooklyn-based companies, suing them because they offered (illegal) legal immigration advice to Haitians after the destructive earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince. Those who provided the advice were not actually lawyers and therefore could not give or charge for legal advice. Further, the companies charged for services that could have been free to the Haitians, like filling out immigration forms. The New York Times is reporting that Cuomo is looking for restitution for the victims and he wants to have the three Brooklyn companies shut down. The three businesses listed on court documents are Rincher’s Multi-Service, Chay Pa Lou Community Center Inc., and Delegue Tax Consultant Inc.
