The New York Times is reporting that a plea bargain announcement is expected today in a high-profile beating case involving a Brooklyn native. Miladin Kovacevic, of Serbia, allegedly beat Bryan Steinhauer of Brooklyn, N.Y., into a coma after a bar fight in May 2008 near their school, Binghamton University. The trial was expected to resume yesterday, but was interrupted until today, when Kovacevic is expected to be offered two years, three months in prison for a guilty plea to an assault charge. Kovacevic fled to Serbia shortly after he was charged.
