The story regarding a fatal fire in Midwood last night is developing. NY1 reports that a Brooklyn rabbi managed to save five of his children, but couldn’t get to his 8 year-old son Avigdor Krasny, who was trapped on the third floor of the building. He pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital. Three brothers and two sisters, ranging in age from 1 to 10, are being treated at Staten Island University Hospital. The youngest is listed in critical condition, NY1 reports. While no cause is known at this time, a neighbor told NY1 that the family lit candles in celebration of the Jewish holidays, which could have sparked the fire.
