The Administration for Children’s Services did not intervene on behalf of a young Brooklyn girl who died from abuse, according to a story by the New York Times.
Four-year-old Marchella Pierce, whose mother allegedly beat her and tied her to a bed, was found dead in the family’s Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment on Sept. 2.
A preliminary report with details on the case was read before a City Council hearing and highlighted a series of missteps. Marchella’s mother, Carlotta Brett-Pierce, 30, for instance failed drug tests while Children’s Services were engaged with the family.
