An off-duty police officer shot and wounded an attempted robber in a hair salon Saturday night, the New York Daily News reports. Winston Cox, 19, is wanted in connection with the attempted murder, police say.

Officer Ferris Jones of the NYPD Crime lab in Jamaica, Queens was getting her hair done at Sabine’s Hallway on Franklin Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant when an armed man entered, demanding cash and property. Jones identified herself as a police officer and the man fired at least three shots, injuring no one. Jones returned fire with two rounds, hitting the suspect at least once, the Daily News reports.

No arrests have been made. Cox is suspected to have a wound in his right arm or thigh and to be carrying a revolver. He is described by police as an African-American male, 5’7″, 140 lbs.
