The 24-year-old Serbian Binghamton University basketball player was sentenced to 27 months yesterday for the 2008 assault of a Brooklyn-born classmate, the New York Post reported. Miladin Kovacevic fled to Serbia after allegedly beating Bryan Steinhaur in a bar and leaving him brain-damaged in May 2008. Kovacevic was already sentenced in Belgrade in September as a part of the plea deal that required him to testify against the Serbian diplomats who helped him escape with an emergency passport and $100,000 bail. Steinhaur is still recovering from the incident.
