The Taxi and Limousine Commission is reviewing a petition for a fare hike in New York City cabs, reports the Gotham Gazette. The Metropolitan Taxicab Board of Trade, the lobbying group for yellow cab owners, has requested that the base fare gets a fifty-cent boost from $2.50 to $3.00 as well as a 19 percent fare increase overall.
