Bank Demolition in Coney Island Halted

Home Live Wire Bank Demolition in Coney Island Halted

Demolition of the Coney Island Bank building was halted last week after reports of unsafe conditions, according to the Brooklyn Eagle following a report from AmusingTheZillions.com and a post on Brownstowner.com. One such unsafe condition was that there was no fence protected adjacent buildings from falling debris.

AmusingTheZillions.com reported that demolished started in September after attempts by preservationists to get the building landmark status failed. The building will still be demolished but it has a stay of execution until the code violations can be corrected and the site made safe to take down.

A one-story retail structure will take over the corner lot, the Eagle reports.
