Teen charged with Shooting a Pair of ex-cons

An 18-year-old man was charged Wednesday with shooting a pair of ex-cons in Brooklyn, the NY Daily News reports.

Daquan Myers was charged with murder, attempted murder, and weapons possession. The victims, Vashawn Brown, 21, and Jamel Baily, 35, were shot during a clash at around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday in Bedford-Suyvesant.

Brown was shot several times and died the following day at Interfaith Hospital. Baily was in stable condition post-shooting at Kings County Hospital. According to the Daily News, Both victims have past convictions, Brown for drug possession and robbery and Bailey for numerous offenses including DWI and weapons possession.

I grew up with Vashawn in Elementary and went to Jr. High with him. I seen him around the neighborhood and I knew him for what he truly was. I find it pure bullsh*t that news writers want to label him and another as a pair of ex cons like seriously. He was a black man caught up in life trynna make a living and get by and out of that mentality. Everyone he grew up will definitely miss him and feels his loss. We know the real him than what others percieved or labeled him as.

word thats real talk i went to school with him in Jr H he aint no ex con but yet they making him out to be an ex con..he aint kill no one ..he did bad thing and so have other ppl but he does not need to be called an ex con and i think his fam should make a lawsuit becaus its bull .the news should realy watch what they say a fam just lost a son..r.i.p ..smfh

1st of all vashawn is my god sister only son! He was raised right and was a great son and person. The news reports the negative never the postive, how about all the trophie he won for basket ball? And the joy he brang to those who knew him, his mother needs the strenght to move forwad and be strong for her only daughter! Smfh @ ppl his hard working single mother should not have to read this negative comments about her son!!!

I feel that the news is wrong for trying to slay vashawns character and he was the victim, his moms should sued they ass. I really didn’t know him like that we just started to speak, what I do know is he was a kool individual. I find it very unsetteling that the first thing writters can right about the late Vashawn Brown is that he was an ex-con. I lived in the same building with his family and everyone knows that not everyone goes down the right path in life. But he was doing what anyone else in these times trying to do and that was survive. If they couldn’t put anything in there report of him being funny, playing in yearly basketball tournaments, a person who loved to dance and was surrounded by love, then they shouldn’t had written nothing at all. All the things they wrote about hi as an “ex-con” was in his past. So for the Brown family, he may nott be here in flesh but his memory will always live forever. May you rest in peace.

All of this is very unsettling. My heart goes out to the family of the victim. When all of the anger and the grief passes, the fact will still remain that your Vashawn will never return to your arms again. No matter how much we “cuss”, or how much we may sue, the fact still remains that our children are committing,”Genocide”!
Now what are you poised to do about that? we are in November 2010, News flash, “The Crackers” don’t need your energy…. We do.
Try to bring a positive change in the way we do things as a people. Until then, things will stay the same, except there will be less and less of us in the future. This gun play is a sure way to guarantee that. Let’s get on the same accord family.
