Dog Used to Scare Geese instead of Killing Them

Officials in Prospect Park have decided to use a border collie to scare away geese that roam the park, so that federal officials will not once again cull them to prevent possible interference with planes in the sky, according to The New York Daily News.

Last year, there was public outrage when the federal government decided to kill 400 geese for the same purpose, which prompted park officials to come up with this solution. Other alternatives employed include destroying unhatched eggs and ticketing park visitors who feed the geese, among other things. Geese control specialists gave the plan a mixed review.
