Home Live Wire 7 Line Subway Extension Plans Stalled

The chances that a subway line running to New Jersey will be built are slim, transportation officials told The New York Daily News. Planners say the $3 billion in federal funds that was to fund the project will almost certainly not be available.

Plans included building a Hudson River rail tunnel, but officials in New Jersey said that they could no longer afford to pay their share. However, Mayor Bloomberg seemed optimistic that some version of the plan would be implemented, although the Federal Transportation Administration was already planning to divert the funds to other new projects.
