The New York City Economic Development Corporation is looking to add a $10-million Smart Grid Demonstration Project at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park, according to a press release. “The Project will include a solar PV system at BAT capable of producing at least 600,000 kilowatt hours of electric power annually … while simultaneously offsetting 400 tons of carbon dioxide each year.” The move is planned for other City-owned locations as well.
The New York Post reports that the EDC will put up $2.65 million to pay construction costs. “The rest would be paid with up to $4.5 million in federal grants secured by Con Edison and some federal tax credits,” according to the Post.
