Police raided a heroin lab in Red Hook last Thursday, finding 60 grams of pure uncut heroin among other things, in what authorities are calling a trend of dealers working out of nicer areas to avoid law enforcement.

The Daily News reported yesterday evening that prosecutors say the heroin mill was in a garage on Van Brunt Street surrounded by bars and cafés, and had more than $30,000 worth of heroin.

The Red Hook raid is one of several recent ones in upper and middle class neighborhoods, according to officials. Other raids occurred in Glendale, Queens in August and Times Square last year.
