Mayor Bloomberg was present today at the groundbreaking of Federal Building #2 in Sunset Park.
The former naval warehouse will be converted into a light manufacturing facility, and is expected to bring in 1,300 permanent jobs. It will also create 400 construction jobs.
According to the Daily News, Mayor Bloomberg didn’t seem too excited to participate in the ceremony. “I can’t wait for the last one. You have no idea,” he said while rolling his eyes.
Salmar Properties, which is undertaking the remodeling, will pay $45 million. The remaining $37 million will come from tax subsidies.
