Great Pumpkin Dog Costume Contest
Fort Greene Pup’s annual Great Pupkin costume contest on Oct. 29, where owners and their four-legged friends will dress up to see who is the top dog in Brooklyn. Registration starts at 11:30 am and judging begins at noon. A $5 donation fee is recommended, but not required.

Get Your Zombie Dance On!
Do Zombies in Brooklyn sound awesome? How about Zombies Dancing in Brooklyn? Even better. On Saturday, Oct. 29, in celebration of the end of the world, dance ’til you die at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple!

Can’t get enough dancing? Central Library’s Youth Wing of the Brooklyn Public Library will play host to a haunted Halloween zombie dance party and a special movie screening in the Dweck Center. Come dance your shoes off, and have your picture taken in a zombie photo booooo-th!

The Haunted Hotel
A high-tech haunted hotel at New York City College of Technology. It will have animatronic skeletons and talking portraits, among other horrors. The poltergeist lodge is put together by the school’s Entertainment Technology department. Why couldn’t I have done this in college?

Halloween in Prospect Park
Events in Prospect Park begin with the Haunted Walk: From the entrance on Prospect Park Southwest and 16th streets to Lookout Hill. The haunted walk winds through the park and passes through the Haunted Carnival, where there will be plenty of Halloween-themed games, arts and crafts, and scary stories for the kids. Also, the annual “Boo at the Zoo” will be taking place at Prospect Park Zoo.

Ghouls and Gourds Oh My!
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden will be transformed into a Halloween themed landscape. Come for the Cajun, Celtic and Tibetan musical performances, the Flamingo croquet, the flying flea circus and the monocle, mustache and beard booth. Be sure to grab your own creepy coleus plant on your way out!

Park Slope Halloween Parade
The annual kids parade in Park Slope, which begins on Seventh Avenue and 14th Street and marches north through the neighborhood.

A-scarium!
Check out this year’s A-scarium at Coney Island! There will be kiddos in costumes, spooky shipwreck, aquatic-themed magic shows, scary storytelling, and an arts and crafts table where kids are encouraged to make their own masks. Don’t miss the special Halloween 4-D feature, “The Curse of Skull Rock,” showing in the theater outside the aquarium entrance.
