Shake Shack Construction Wall Becomes Giant Community Bucket List

Home Live Wire Shake Shack Construction Wall Becomes Giant Community Bucket List

On the corner of Adams Street and Fulton Street Mall in downtown Brooklyn, a construction wall of a new Shake Shack has been transformed into a “Before I Die” chalkboard encouraging passerbys to write down what’s on their bucket list.

The “Before I Die” project was originally started by Candy Chung in New Orleans when she turned one side of an abandoned house into a giant blackboard. Chung wrote repeatedly “Before I die I want to _______,” and then left it up to the locals to fill in the blanks. The blackboards have popped up all around the world including San Diego, Portsmouth, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Queretaro, Almaty and now Brooklyn.

Written in colorful chalk, the goals run the gamut from “build a school”, “swim around Manhattan”, “figure out women” and even wishes of hooking up with a celebrity idol or two. Construction will end on the Shack Shack in November so there’s still some time to add your wish to the wall.
