The jurors heard the closing arguments of the corruption trial of Assemblyman William Boyland Jr today. Prosecutors said the lawmaker took $175,000 in bribes from a hospital, but Boyland’s lawyer insisted that the money was legitimate compensation for his community outreach efforts.

According to the New York Post, the Brooklyn Democrat has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges. The jurors are expected to start deliberating later today.
