Better alternative to jail for felon moms?  

Columbia University research reports lower mental illness rates and less drug abuse for felon mothers who are allowedto live with their kids in a shared apartment in Brooklyn rather than in prison. Kids in the program remain in school, as opposed to kids of imprisoned mothers who fail school more often and who sometimes end up in jail themselves.  Read more at: Poughkeepsie Journal
