A proposed update to the restrooms at Prospect Park’s historic Wellhouse building will convert human waste to fertilizer for the park. The system will take the outgoing product from the bathroom and combine it with woodchips for use in the park. The project will cost an estimated $1.8 million dollars to complete. One hurdle: New York state law currently prohibits the use of human waste as a fertilizer.
