Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz bypassed Bill de Blasio and Bill Thompson, who have ties to the borough, to endorse Manhattan resident Christine Quinn. Markowitz said he thinks it’s time for a woman to be the city’s mayor. He is the first borough president to endorse a mayoral candidate.
