The Brooklyn Eagle is reporting that the Veterans Administration hospital in the borough will open a state-of-the-art sleep center for on Sept. 27. Veterans may then seek treatment for a variety of sleep-related ailments, including problems associated with traumatic brain injury, sleep apnea and narcolepsy, among other disorders.

Brooklyn’s Opossum Problem
When the city tried to control the rat population with opossums, Brooklyn residents got a bit of a bigger problem. The opposums didn’t want the rats–and have instead multiplied and now feed on the borough’s garbage, according to the New York Post.

ConEd Restores Power to Most Brooklyn Residents
Consolidated Edison has said that the majority of Brooklyn residents affected by last week’s reported tornadoes now have power, according to the Daily News. About 2,800 utility customers in Queens remain without power. Winds reached 125 mph and about 1,500 trees throughout the city were destroyed, the Daily News said.
