Marty Markowitz Wants You to Put That Cigarette Out

And so do a lot of other important people. Brooklyn Borough Prez Markowitz, City Councilwoman Letitia James and other officials are launching their new “Brooklyn Smoke-Free Partnership” at the Brooklyn Borough Hall to get fewer Brooklynites to light up.

Central Brooklyn, along with Harlem and the South Bronx, came out on top of neighborhoods in New York City with the most smokers, according to a 2003 Health Department survey. Home Aide Confesses to Murdering Boss

Yamilette Hidalgo, who yesterday was arrested for beating her boss, Maria Torres, 67, to death, confessed to the killing, claiming it was self-defense. The Daily News has the story, and so far all they have is anonymous police sources, but we’ll keep you updated.
