Officers from the 75th Precinct, U.S. Park Police, the Special Operation Division, and the Harbor Unit searched 1,000 acres of park and marshland.

The Spring Creek area at the southern tip of Howard Beach is just east of the apartment complex that Alford lived in.

Police said bones were found scattered throughout the park but it is believed they are animal remains.

NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne had called the search to find the boy, “one of the most intensive searches for an individual in recent memory.”

Alford is described as 4’8’’ and 65 pounds and last seen wearing a red T-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.
