Now that the pedestrian areas of Times Square are permanent, the city is calling on Brooklyn artist Molly Dilworth to make the area cool to look at. Dilworth, of Brooklyn, is creating a piece called “Cool Water, Hot Island.” It is after the weather pattern of cities having hotter temperatures than rural areas during the summer. For her work, Dilworth will receive $15,000. “I don’t want to cover the Earth, but I do want to mark territory where something is happening, and to kind of acknowledge this new view that we have,” Dilworth told the Daily News in March.
