A prosecutor portrayed Tuesday the alleged plan to blow up JFK airport and part of Queens as revenge for mistreatment of Muslims. Russell Defreitas, 66, a former cargo worker, and Abdul Kadir, 58, wanted to create something code-named “The Shining Light,” because the explosions would be “so massive … that it could be seen from far, far away,” U.S. Attorney Zainab Ahmad said in closing arguments in federal court in Brooklyn, according to the Associated Press. The plot was intercepted and the pair arrested before they could implement any of their plans. The jury is expected to begin deliberations today.
