More than 50 students have been told they need to switch schools because Intermediate School 234 on E.17th St. in Gravesend, Brooklyn, is just too crowded, the Department of Education has said. Students must now relocated to IS 14, DOE spokesman Jack Zarin-Rosenfeld said. Students and parents were disheartened by the news. “It broke my heart,” Joy Solomon, 11, a sixth-grader, told the Daily News. “It was my dream to go to school there.” Zarin-Rosenfeld said principals tried to get the news to students as parents as soon as possible. “We understand this is frustrating for families and regret not communicating better,” Zarin-Rosenfeld told the Daily News.
