The prosecution and defense attorneys are giving closing summations at the Brooklyn Supreme Court today concerning the murder of a girl who was allegedly stabbed by her cousin 30 times, The Brooklin Ink‘s Evan MacDonald reports. Tiana Browne, 17, is charged with second degree murder and possession of a weapon after allegedly murdering her cousin, Shannon Braithwaite, in September of 2008. The defense argues that Browne’s alleged act was linked to effects of post traumatic stress disorder. Douglas Rankin, the defense attorney, argued this morning that the jury must weigh Browne’s mental intent to kill or whether she was suffering from a mental disease or defect. The assistant District Attorney, Mark Hale is presenting his closing arguments this afternoon. A verdict could come as early as today.
