Broadway makes its way to Brooklyn

Home Live Wire Broadway makes its way to Brooklyn

“Brooklyn Omnibus,” touted as “an irreverent look at life in Kings County” via rock ‘n’ roll music and theatrical performance, opens at the Brooklyn Academy of Music tomorrow, The Wall Street Journal reports. Written and composed by Heidi Rodewald and Mark Stewart, California natives responsible for the Tony-winning Broadway hit “Passing Strange” and “Making It,” the show brings songs to the stage that comment on the lives of several characters living throughout different Brooklyn neighborhoods.

“The show isn’t really about Brooklyn,” said Stewart, who goes by Stew. “It’s about two people from L.A. trying to write about Brooklyn. We’re like these observers from Planet California.”

Part of BAM’s Next Wave Festival, the live song cycle runs through Saturday.
