Brooklyners driving to Manhattan or Staten Island will have to pay higher tolls. The Metropolitan Transport Authority today raised the one way cash toll on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to $13 from $11, while the toll on the Brooklyn Battery tunnel went up from $5.50 to $6.50. EZ Pass users however will only have to pay 5% more to make these crossings, meaning that fees on the Verrazano bridge will climb to $9.50 and to $4.80 at major crossings like the Batter Tunnel. Tolls on minor crossings across the city will go up to $1.80 on minor crossings. The New York Times reports the new fares will be implemented on December 30th.
