Brooklyn was named the city with the fourth largest gains in employment, said a new report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Employment grew 1.4 percent in the first quarter of 2010.  A lot of the 8,6000 new jobs in Brooklyn can be attributed to a hiring spree in the home health care industry, reported CrainsNewYork.com.

“It’s nice that there’s job growth, but most of the growth is concentrated in an industry that is not particularly high paying,” said Martin Kohli, a regional economist.

The Bronx also experienced a job growth in the first quarter, gaining a marginal job increase of 0.7 percent. Manhattan, Staten Island and Queens all experienced a decrease during the same period.
