The father of a man who pleaded guilty to plotting an attack of the New York subway system faces new charges today, the Associated Press and Reuters report. Mohammed Wali Zazi, 54, is charged with six counts of obstruction of justice and witness tampering, according to an indictment filed in Brooklyn federal court. The father lives in Denver and previously pleaded not guilty to conspiracy. Mohammed Wali Zazi’s attorney said he will plead not guilty to the latest charges. His son was arrested in 2009 for a plot that was supposed to occur on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The father is due in Brooklyn federal court on Dec. 9.
