According to the New York Times, Yahoo has added 30 cities and neighborhoods, including Brooklyn, to its local listings. That section of the Web site–comparable to the Yellow Pages–will now feature hyperlocal elements, including local news articles, deals from nearby merchants and event listings in the area. Brooklyn’s page will be subdivided into separate neighborhoods, including Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope and Fort Greene. Yahoo’s localized push comes as rival AOL focuses on Patch.com, a news service providing hyperlocal coverage to hundreds of communities.
