Jonathan Romain, a 23 year-old bookbinder and self-described day wanderer, “connects with animals more than people.”
The “self-portrait” on his arm, a bear on one side and deer on the other represents the two sides of his personality.
The silent bear is humble and only attacks when provoked, while the wandering deer never trends the same path twice.
Romain’s favorite book as a child was Dr. Seuss’s “The Lorax.”
The children’s book is a fable about the threat to the planet, which the central character, the Lorax, speaks out for.
The idea of “never giving up and speaking your mind,” appealed to Romain and he had the Lorax tattooed on his arm.
